The Book of Revelation Chapter Eight.

Chapter eight provides the seventh seal which encompasses seven trumpets, four of which are sounded in this chapter. Actually, chapter eight continues where chapter six ended.  At this point,  things are starting to look really bad for the world.  God's continued judgments continue to unfold.

  • The Continuation - vs.1 ...he had opened the seventh seal...  The continuation that ended in chapter six takes shape.
  • The Observation - vs.1,2
  1. The Silence - vs.1  Why the silence?  See Zeph.1:7; Zech. 2:13
  2. The Violence - vs.2  ...given seven trumpets...  Judgment is sure.

Note the three-fold purpose of trumpets:
1.  The Call To Worship - Numbers 10:1,8
2.  The Call To War - Numbers 10:9
3.  The Call To Wake - Numbers 10:10

While it is true, that many awful things are happening even in our day... they do not compare to the awful things that will happen during the Great Tribulation (Matthew 24:21).
