End Times Prophecy - The Chronology

The Bible is not vague about the chronology of events concerning end times.  Note the chronology of events that are certain to happen:

  • #1: The Rapture Of The Church (This could happen now) 1 Thess. 4:15,17; 1 Cor. 15:51,53
  • #2: The Judgment Seat Of Christ (This will happen in heaven where believers will be judged according to their works and receive or lose rewards. 2 Cor. 5:10; Romans 14:10-12
  • #3: The Marriage Of The Lamb (This will happen in the heavenlies) Rev. 19:7
  • #4: The Seven Sealed Book - The Crisis (This will occur right after the rapture) Rev. 4
  • #5: The Great Tribulation (Known also as: Jacob's Trouble & Daniel's 70th Week)
  • #6: The Second Coming of Christ (Will be visible and invincible) Rev. 1:7
  • #7: The Millennium (The Reign of Christ on Earth For one-thousand years) Rev. 20:4
  • #8: The Final Revolt of Satan - Revelation 20:7,9
  • #9: The Great White Throne Judgment (Where sinners are judged and cast into the lake of fire)Revelation. 20:11,15
  • #10: The Destruction Of This Present Earth And Surrounding Heavens 2 Peter 3:10,11
  • #11: The New Creation Of Heaven And Earth - Revelation 21:1

The chronology of events clearly present the wisdom of God in all His doings. How fortunate we are as believers to know the Lord Jesus Christ.

Sincerely, Dr. Arthur Belanger

End Times Prophecy - The Theology.  Will the battle of Armageddon end the world as we know it? The doctrine of eschatology from a biblical perspective provides clarity on the chronology and theology of end times prophesy.

Eschatology is the study of the doctrine or teachings in the Bible concerning the end times, more specifically, of the period of time dealing with the return of Christ and the events that follow.  College Of The Open Bible provides a comprehensive study of prophecy online in our Bachelor, Master, or Doctorate of Theology. Or you can do a none-degree study.  Learn more.

Eschatological subjects commence with the rapture followed by the Tribulation, the Millennium, the Final Judgment, Armageddon, and the New Heavens and the New Earth.

In the New Testament, eschatological chapters include (but not limited to); Matt. 24, Mark 13, Luke 17,1 Thess. 4:13;5:1,9; and 2 Thess. 2. In one form or another most of the books of the Bible deal with end-times subjects. But some that are more prominently prophetical are Daniel, Ezekiel, Isaiah, Joel, Zechariah, Matthew, Mark, Luke, 2 Thessalonians, and of course Revelation.

Why understanding the doctrine eschatology is important?

  • Because of its prominence in Scripture. Next to the Gospel of Christ, eschatology is the most emphasized subject in the Bible.
  • Because God's Word provides a clarity about the future.  God's Word on this subject is so defined in order to protect Christians from false prophets and/or erroneous teachings.  The biblical emphasis of eschatology is intended to comfort the believer (1 Thes. 4:18) and conform us to the likeness of Christ (1 John 3:3).
