Fact: Christians pursuing happiness are characterized as: given to or enslaved to various external worldly influences that bribe them to a false safety in self-absorption for validation of how they want to be perceived (Genesis 3:6; Romans 12:1,3). But here is your problem: How you want to be perceived... i.e.: wise (Gen.3:6); desirable (Prov.31:18); beautiful (Prov. 31:18); etc. is in stark contrast of your internal being of which is the workings of the flesh or the soulishness of your misinterpretation of who you really are (Romans 7:18). AND YOU KNOW WHO YOU REALLY ARE.
If you trust the Lord with all your heart, then you in actuality acknowledge His interpretation of you: a new creature in Christ (2 Cor. 5:17). If you lean to your own understanding, you are in essence acknowledging your interpretation of yourself or as you want the eyes of the world to perceive you. Not Good!
FACT: Happiness is never achieved in spite of your insatiable desire to grasp and defend it. (Proverbs 27:20). REAL HAPPINES IS NOT ACHIEVED BY THE AMBITIONS AND EXCERCISE OF YOUR SOULISH INTENTIONS. HAPPINESS IS A GIFT RECEIVED FROM CHRIST.
In God's economy, happiness IS Christ in you, with you and perfect for you which is exceedingly obvious in the Gospel of Jesus Christ which is His salvation and sanctification of your very being by Christ unto Christ. (Psalms 23: 1,6)
"But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;) And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus: That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus. For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them (Ephesians 2:4,10).
FACT: There is nothing more or less than Jesus Christ to HAPPY YOUR SOUL. AMEN & AMEN.
Sincerely, Dr. Arthur Belanger
HAPPINESS IS NOT GOD'S GOAL FOR YOU. SO WHY ARE YOU CHASING IT?
Happiness in Christ is often mis-understood as a deep and fulfilling feeling of achieving expectations of whatever sort. However, many Christians are baited by unrealistic expectations that are seductively and imaginatively real. The apostle John taught that the hallmark of soulish and/or worldly happiness is nurtured by: "...the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, and is not of the Father, but is of the world" (1 John 2:16).
Yes, it is true: GOD desires for you to be happy, and HE provided exceedingly all that is necessary to that desire realized. It is God's desire for you to be happy. Our desire to be happy will never nor could ever equal God's desire (Gen. 3). So be careful who's desire you abide... be sure it's His desire and not yours (John 15:4). With your desire, you may not get what you hope for. With God's desire, you GOT HIM.
If you are going to be happy now... then you must STOP what you are BEING... TRUSTING OF YOUR OWN UNDERSTANDING. WHICH IS IN ESSENCE IS SELF-DECEIVING YOURSELF.
YOU SEE... TRUSTING GOD IS NOT MERELY TAKING GOD AT HIS WORD. TRUSTING GOD IS BEING WILLFULLY TAKEN BY HIS WORD (Prov.3:5). Now that's HAPPY in the NOW.
