Who Knows Your a Christian? Anyone?
It's true, most Christians are not perceived as a disciple of Jesus Christ. The reason is frightful. Christians are making choices that are contrary to Christ-like motives. The apostle Paul expounds to the believers in Galatia that they have two choices in all aspects of life: This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh. For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would (Gal.5:16,17).
Your choices as a believer are:
#1: Walk in the flesh or #2: Walk in the Spirit.
There are three clues that you are walking in the flesh which means a pre-occupation with self-preservation and/or self-gratification. The first is the most obvious clue.
The real danger of not being known as a disciple of Jesus Christ is that YOU ARE YOU AND YOU don't care. That is, you tolerate your own individual temperament and fleshly inclinations over the provocations of the Holy Spirit (Psalms 23). You will find yourself rejecting the perpetual convicting work of the Holy Spirit in whom there is zero tolerance for your self-exaltation.
What is the answer to this dreadful and deceitful way of living and not being known as a disciple of Jesus Christ?
One of the prevalent challenges the Holy Spirit percolates within your spirit is the need for inward honesty. To resist this core challenge is to guarantee you're undoing. Inward honesty must become a perpetual confession of your helplessness (2 Corinthians 12:9). Walking in the Spirit as a Christian, you are compelled to acknowledge the grace of God as your total sufficiency. This is why we have peace in a world that is falling to pieces. NEVER FORGET: THIS: YOUR GREATEST UNDOING IS DOING FOR YOURSELF. Prov. 14:12
Honestly, we know that our entire life is wrapped up in the grace of God. Concession to this divine reality breeds a Christ-centered determination to abide in the life and likeness of Jesus Christ (John 15: 1,4). It is the graciousness of God that prevails even when we are wavering in difficult times.
Being honest inwardly is the only peaceful way to enjoy true communion with our Savior. Honesty with the Lord always finds the graciousness of God as the only attraction for lasting satisfaction. Today! Just be honest with Christ. He is forever inclined to help and forgive you. And your intimate world will know you are a disciple of Jesus Christ.
Sincerely, Dr. Arthur Belanger
